I See You Baby …

What is it with girls butts that I love so much?

Hey .. don’t worry .. its not just butts!

I parked the car about 500 yards from the train station this morning and as I started my walk down the road she appeared from a side street .. tall,  blonde,  not a slim girly girl ..  more of your full-bodied woman kinda girl.

She’s probably just a little bit chunky .. but what a lovely ass she had!

It was mesmerising,  rolling to one side and the other as she took each step.

I was 80 yards behind but it caught my attention and now I’m walking behind her with her ass directly in my eyeline,  a most enjoyable sight as I drew closer,   finally arriving at the station only 10 feet behiond her.

But what was it about her ass that made it so wonderful to watch?

I Just Called To Say I Love You?

I’m a big Stevie Wonder fan .. If tunes like Superstition,  I Wish,  Sir Duke,  Living For The City etc don’t make you want to dance thee is something wrong with you.

I particularly love I Wish, its a different more upbeat slant on the song Dance With My Father .. which I also love.    Stevie sings of his mum keeping him right,  greeting him at the back-door to tell him the difference between wrong and right and for me it brings back memories when I used to hang about with those “hoodlum friends of mine”.

I was listening to all of these songs while getting ready for work and on my train journey this morning.

I work in a busy open-plan office,   having headphones on helps block out the background noise of other peoples conversations and helps you focus on the task at hand .. even if your head is bopping along to the music.

It’s the pulse .. it flows in us .. music is always playing in my head.

Better that than hearing voices!  🙂

When the pulse stops,  the dance is over and we die .. thats it.

So I’m sitting there listening to Steve Wright on Radio 2 .. and someone is picking the music of their lifetime .. a bit of Stevie coming up fantastic!

But then .. of all the choices they choose .. I Just Called To Say I Love You.

Now I don’t know about you,  but it has to be one of the worst pop songs ever,  sickly scmaltzy and almost gives me the boke.

Now compare that with the song As from his album Songs in The Key Of Life.

Now theres a tune and a lyric which conveys the emotion of being in love without the need for a sick-bag.

I even love the version by George Michael and Mary J Blige,  noted for its video which was avant-garde in its use of computer controlled cameras and overlaid video.

Until the rainbow burns the starts out of the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high

Out Of Europe?

Tonight Celtic play a home tie against Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar and are already trailing by a 1-0 defeat in the first leg.

If Celtic fail to overcome the “minnows”,  thats it,  game over,  no parachute into the Europa League.and the end of the Europe Adventure for another year.

Pretty degrading for former winners of the European Cup?

Not really .. thats the reality of how far we have declined.

Who is to blame for that decline?

The Rodgers Revolution? #CelticFC

Well how embarrassing was that result?

Yesterdays blog was regarding the first competitive match for Brendan Rodgers management of Celtic against  Lincoln Red Imps in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

It was a warning not to underestimate Lincoln Red Imps and to treat them with the same respect as any more opponent.

It was also a reality check that I expected Celtic to have far too much power for the relative “minnows” and to win comfortably scoring 3 goals,   but with our defence I fully expected the Imps to score at some point.

That was yesterday!

Who would have thought that the Rodgers Revolution would come to such a faltering and hopeless start,  getting beat by a solitary goal.

But it was the nature of the defeat which has given me cause for concern.

Griffiths was played out of position to accommodate Dembele,  Brown is not fit,   a floundering mid-field performance by Bitton .. and then there is Efe Ambrose.

“There’s only one F’in Efe” .. used to be the humorous cry at Celtic Park.

It had already gone beyond a joke last season,   so to see him with a jersey at the start of the game was a cause of unease as I settled down to watch the game.

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one with the dread that Efe would fuck up at some point.

And fuck up he did,  out of position,  misread the flight of the ball and not enough strength to outpower a much smaller opponent who then schlaffed the ball into the net.

It still counts.

What is particularly disappointing is ..

1 – Celtic did not react, up their game and create more chances
2 – Celtic did not score once from the chances we had.
3 – The management even had Efe on the park .. have they not seen him?

If playing Ambrose last night was to put him in the shop-window and hopefully draw bids from other clubs,  then it failed miserably.

Rodgers looked as lost as his predecessor Delia when the game wasn’t going to plan and there was no PlanB.

I’m certain that Celtic will get through on the return leg at Celtic Park next week.

I’d even take bets on it .. but the jury is out on Rodgers already.

There has to be a clear-out from this team of no-hopers and I only hope that Dermot Desmond who brought Rodgers to the club backs him with a decent player budget because with this lot we are going nowhere.

A Band Of Angels?

A band?

Naah … You’re having a laugh mate!

His argument is that a band is any group of musicians with 3 members or more and there happens to be 4 of us sitting in my house trying to put a few tunes together.

But it’s that definition of musician which is a bit of an issue!

Okay,  I’m downplaying it a bit,  but we aren’t really a band,  more a collection of loosely-coupled pals who would like to do better than we are at the moment.

Isn’t that the same for every “band”?

Not that we want fame or fortune,  not even on the horizon or in my most secret dreams to imagine myself playing to an adoring audience.

I just like being able to play a few tunes.

We started off last year as what can only be described as a rabble,  a collection of guys trying to play the same tune in the same key and keep time.

It isn’t as easy as it first appears.

All i needs it for one guy to be out of time,  or have forgot to adjust the capo  on his guitar so that he is playing in a different key and it sounds hellish.

What you have to learn is that someone has to lead,  keep the central timing and others need to fall behind and play rhythm or lead,   not all playing the same thing at the same time.

Individually,  the guys are all talented,  to one degree or other.

But what I’ve learned is that individual talent isn’t enough when you play together.   You have to be prepared to take a back seat and let the other guys take the lead.

But that has to be reciprocated or it falls apart.

The problem with any group of people is pleasing everyone,   thats were most bands fall apart with “musical differences” .. that could be that you want to play Simon and Garfunkel and I want to play Stone Roses.

There have been times when the journey has been tough,  I personally don’t see the point in playing out-dated crap like “The Letter”, “Homeward Bound” or “The Streets Of London” .. just because its all that one of the other guys knows how to play.

It’s a group thing,  you play to your strengths,  music you like and what you think your market is and will get a positive response from a mixed crowd.  If someone doesn’t shape up then they need to ship out.   Thats really up to them.

But its coming together and we have another wee charity gig coming up.

Thats going to be a hoot,   fortunately its a few months away yet so there’s lots of time to practice and most importantly in my book agree on the arrangements of who is playing which part, without that,  its a nightmare and I’m out.

My backing piano track for Angels.

Back In Europe?

Back in Europe, not that we ever really left.

I can’t actually remember the last time that Celtic did not feature in some European championship or other .. probably the dark days of the early 90s before Fergus came to town?

Tonight Celtic play Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps in what many are saying is a formality, writing the Imps off as “Minnows”

They may only have a 5000 seater stadium, Victoria, which they share with all other Gibraltar teams .. well it it is a small province.

But is that any reason to write them off?

In my experience pride comes before a fall, writing teams off is arrogant and leads to half hearted performances, so should never happen and I’m certain that Brendan Rodgers will have the team fired up for his first competitive game in charge of the club.

But in reality .. lets not mess about .. if Celtic don’t give this team a beating then they don’t deserve to be there.

3-0 to the Hoops as a minimum .. although with no new defenders brought in, I can’t help but suspect that the Imps will score.
